Major League Baseball (MLB) has revealed that its free-to-attend fan festival will once again take place in Trafalgar Square, leading up to the MLB World Tour: London Series 2024.

Following the tremendous success of last year's event, the iconic landmark will be transformed once more into the ultimate takeover from 7-9 June, coinciding with the New York Mets facing off against the Philadelphia Phillies in a 2-game series at London Stadium during that weekend. The MLB London Series: Trafalgar Square Takeover promises to offer something for everyone, providing fans from the UK, New York, Philadelphia, and across the globe with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the finest of baseball right in the heart of London.

The thrilling weekend will feature a variety of baseball entertainment, offering attendees the opportunity to step up to the plate in the Batting Boot Camp, indulge in ballpark cuisine inspired by New York and Philadelphia, explore MLB merchandise, and enjoy a live screening of the main event – MLB World Tour: London Series 2024.

Returning as the focal point this year is The Cage, an innovative live baseball experience that utilises augmented reality to merge real-life and virtual gameplay. Kicking off the London Series weekend on Friday night (7 June), Phillies legend Chase Utley and Mets legend Daniel Murphy will team up with Gladiators Apollo and Fire to host a unique Home Run Derby in support of Sport Relief.

The MLB London Series: Trafalgar Square Takeover will provide the chance to experience many things and get involved with everything that is on offer. Both games of the London Series featuring the Mets and Phillies will be broadcast live on three large screens. MLB aims to recreate the vibrant ballpark atmosphere, complete with live DJs, hosts Aimee Fuller and Max Whittle, inning break entertainment, exciting prize giveaways, and additional enhancements to elevate the experience.

MLB has collaborated with KERB to offer a delectable array of ballpark cuisine, featuring menus inspired by specialty dishes from New York and Philadelphia. Onsite, attendees can explore exclusive MLB World Tour: London Series merchandise, as well as headwear representing all 30 MLB teams and a variety of other offerings.

You can also step up to the plate and test your skills in the Batting Boot Camp. With ten batting cages available, there are ample opportunities for everyone to take a swing, supported by teams of coaches. This free event offers a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in experiencing Major League Baseball in a convenient location. 

It's also ideal for fans heading to London Stadium, providing them with the chance to immerse themselves in the pre-game atmosphere. This initiative aligns with MLB's broader goal of introducing more fans to the sport and establishing a lasting legacy for baseball. Aside from the MLB London Series: Trafalgar Square Takeover, MLB has planned numerous activities across London throughout June leading up to the MLB World Tour: London Series 2024 Presented by Zoom Workplace. 

These include initiatives such as the First Pitch program, offering opportunities for young people to experience baseball in schools, along with a First Pitch Festival.
