The International Ski Federation (FIS) has announced that its 2020 Congress will take place in Marrakesh.

The Moroccan city was selected by the governing body at their pre-season Calendar Conference in Portoroz in Slovenia.

It will be the 52nd FIS Congress in the organisation's history.

Other decisions made at the Conference include the provisional membership of Dominican Republic being accepted.

This is subject to approval at next year's FIS Congress.

Hosts were announced for a number of FIS Junior World Championships, with Sauris in Italy given the rights to this year's grass skiing event.

Cardona and Treble Cone in New Zealand will share the 2018 Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Junior Championships, with halfpipe, slopestyle and big air at the former venue.

Ski and snowboard cross and snowboard parallel races will take place in Treble Cone.

Raubichi in Belarus will host the world's best juniors in freestyle aerials in 2018, with moguls taking place in Åre and Duved in Sweden.

The Junior World Championships for Nordic disciplines will be in Goms, Ulrichen and Kandersteg in Switzerland in 2018.

Muerren in Switzerland will host the best Telemark skiing juniors.

The World Cup schedules for 2017-18 were also agreed, with a new Alpine city event approved for Norwegian capital Oslo on January 1. 

A two-run downhill will take place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany on February 3. 

A briefing with the candidates for the 2023 FIS World Championships was also held.

Courchevel-Meribel in France will battle against Austrian entry Saalbach-Hinterglemm for the right to host the 2023 Alpine World Championships.

The contest to host the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2023 will pit Planica in Slovenia against Trondheim in Norway.

Vikersund in Norway is the only contender for the 2022 Ski Flying World Championships.
